The Blue Mountains

These are just a couple of the many waterfalls along the path.

The Three Sisters Legend has it that they were 3 beautiful young women who had fallen in love with 3 men from an Aboriginal tribe from the foothills. Tribal lore prohibited the union, and a battle ensued. A witchdoctor turned the women to stone so they wouldn't be harmed. but he was killed and no one could undo the spell. This is just one of the legends I found regarding this spectacular rock formation.

 On a VERY HOT Sunday in Sydney we took a two hour drive to the Blue Mountains. The Mountains got their name because of the blue haze caused by the oily mist exuded from the eucalyptus trees.   It is difficult to believe it is cold at home right now. I'll soon be back in that cold, and snowy land. But then off to AZ for the rest of the winter. Retirement is so hard!
